Re: Corinth Canal
Yes Peter did this excursion a few years ago - strange experience - you felt as if you were travelling uphill - difficult to explain - obviously an optical illusion and no I hadn't been on the ouzo
The excursion was combined with a visit to ancient Corinth.
Completely different experience to the Panama Canal and the Suez Canal but well worth a visit.
I also remember we watched a chap bungee jumping from the bridge over the canal - it's one of the places these extreme sports types go to for their kicks - bonkers

Re: Corinth Canal
We did the Corinth Canal a couple of years ago and if you have never been through the canal then it is quite an experience - however it has now become somewhat commercialised (for that read H&S). Many years (well not quite that many) ago we stayed in Corinth on a land based holiday which was actually at the hotel that we were taken to for lunch on our P&O excursion. I digress - in those days the trip through the Canal was in a quite small boat with an outboard motor and whilst this was somewhat more scary (no buoyancy aids in those days!) the overall impression was much greater.
It's probably one of those OK I've been and ticked it off excursions that you would not repeat.
When we were staying in Corinth there were occasions when there would be a [small] cruise ship passing through the canal and there was one spot by the chain ferry where it looked as if the ship was sailing up the road - quite an optical illusion.

Re: Corinth Canal
It's such a long time ago, the kids must have been in short trousers
The smaller the boat the scarier the experience ... take a spare pair of undies if you're going on a rowboat with an outboard strapped on the back but go for it anyway.

Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Cheers all. Still looking at Ventura 2016 and one of the ports is Piraeus/Athens. Not keen on the Athens part but noticed that this could be an option.

Re: Corinth Canal
Corinth Canal is a good trip. Nice boat ride through the canal and back, visit to ancient Corinth and tea and cakes on a seaside hotel. What's not to like?
