Cunard & Venice Simplon Express

Unread post by melsea »

We have just booked an amazing trip, it's a little expensive but it's still at a very good price.
Queen Elizabeth 12 night cruise starting in Rome ending in Venice two nights in Venice at a 5 star hotel then 2 days & 1 night on the Orient Expess. Always wanted to do the Orient express and this trip allows us to do this. We found this one from an email sent to us by Cruise International.

Can't wait, god willing we will make it.

That sounds amazing - what a smashing idea. Daft question ...... you disembark the ship and then eventually board the train. Is there storage available for your luggage on the train, or is there a restriction? Would you have to send your luggage back to the UK separately?

I fancied doing a oneway VSOE, but with no ensuite bathroom I decided maybe not. Will you post a report on it - sounds a lovely trip.

Have a wonderful time.

Em :)

Sorry to post again - but have you seen their sample menu? At least onboard ship there are plenty of alternative dining venues with differences.

The more I think about it, the more I have to conclude that it sounds wonderful, but I think if I ever do a long train journey it would have to be the one in Canada.

I gather there is not much room on the train but since the cruise is only for 12 nights and we fly out to Rome we will not be take more than one case each due to the restrictions. Having said that BA is more generous than most airlines allowing you hand luggage, a laptop and hand bag(for the ladies).

The Canadian Rockie train is also on the bucket list, I have been to Banff and so the trans Canadian trip is a must.

I will do a report, as you know I like doing them.

We were wanting to do the Canadian Rockies including the Rocky Mountaineer & Alaska cruise this year but the dates & number of days holiday for R just didn't fit as we've already got a cruise booked for this year.
We've now decided that we'll do it next year instead & then find a cruise to fit around whatever holiday is left :D

Sounds a super trip. We spent a day on the Orient Express and the food was wonderful and the champagne flowed.

Here's hoping that you are going to have really wonderful time - we are still 'thinking' about the one in Canada. We've been over to Canada a couple of times, and loved the sea to sky highway (Vancouver to Whister), but that may have been a bit spoilt now because of the roadworks necessary for the winter Olympics.

Anyway, we wouldn't opt to sleep on the train overnight, and it's looking like 2013/2015 for us.

Still, have a wonderful trip and enjoy your time in Venice.

Em :)
