A Glimpse of Bruges

Unread post by Stephen »

If you visit make sure you have your wits about you as anything seems to go traffic and pedestrian wise.

Live cam of the main square in Bruges.

Living where we do Stephen, we pop over often for the day and a bite to eat

You do need to keep your wits about you, particularly with the cyclists

They are mental.

On another note, a few times a year we used to go over to Calais to a particular fish resturant.
That's now a no, no.

I wonder how much this migrant crisis has cost the Calais businesess?
There are over 6 thousand there now and it's spreading up and down the coast to other ports.
It's on our local news every night but expect it rarely gets a mention in other parts.
A bit like operation stack

We have been a couple of times, both via cruises. We are there again in December.

I agree, everyone seems to go into Kamikaze mode when they're out and about. And as for the large zebra crossing at the main square, I think that's there purely for decoration.

Last time I was there, there was a severe risk of being mown down by a horse & carriage! Never been on a cruise, though - we're due to call there next May

Yeah, but you can get proper Belgian choccy anywhere now - the mayo and chips never seems the same anywhere else !

Sounds good. I'll try and remember to give this mayo and chips a go when we're next there.

My advice:
The chocolates have a limited shelf life so it's best to eat them quickly before they go off. Make sure you've got some for the next day in case you run out.
I was taught to be cautious

If you were to read the full info you can eat there, and I suspect mayo condiments would be available, or 'borrow' some sachets from the ship

I think they are over rated and priced.
