Classical Music Festivals at sea

Has P&O ended these?
I can't find any mention of them online or in the brochures!

Well,I've actually had a reply to my query from P&O.
The usual very helpful answer!

''We are still looking at potentially continuing with these cruises, as like you say, these are popular with many of our guests.

The specifics of this, is not available at this stage I'm afraid, in terms of dates/ships etc, but hopefully we will have more clarity in time to come, once decisions have been made. ''

Strange that they can announce ''Strictly'' and ''Food Hero'' cruises but not more cultural events!

We've been on one on Aurora and absolutely loved it. 16nights of bliss.
Empty vessels .. and all that

We did one on Oriana three years ago. Fabulous it was. We had a concert piano player that had been on Cunard and a baritone from the Welsh national opera. The pianist got so much applause after every concert, the baritone wasn't bad either.

Apparently then Oriana had one of the few grand pianos in the fleet.

Would love to do another one.

Wasn't that in the Curzon Room before they made it into a restaurant?

It was on the open deck at the stern when we watched it being played as we sailed out of Olden … on Oriana of course.

I've done MFAS on Aurora,Artemis and Adonia. All thoroughly enjoyable. All had grand pianos of course.
David, you are quite correct of course, there used to be a white Grand piano in the Curzon room. We enjoyed many enjoyable concerts in there by the late Vincent Billington. Incidentally, the Artemis MFAS was on its farewell voyage which was superb.

There are more grand pianos than you might think. Aurora has several, including one in one of the posh suites, and one that plays itself in the restaurant.

And the current Arcadia still has the bell!

Glad to say the Music cruises are returning this year, although there is only the one on R920. Can’t say I’m over enamoured with The Canaries but I’ve booked it anyway. Surprised there hasn’t been any publicity but nevertheless it’s fairly well booked up already.

Have you had this confirmed by P and O as a Music Cruise? I have emailed them but so far no response.

If you look in FAQ’s you will see it confirmed that R920 is confirmed as a music festival. I have been unable to find out who is hosting as yet.
