More getaway fares released from P &O

Unread post by Suekersh »

Just had an e mail re new Getaway deals. These go through to End of July 2013. So much for Vantage fares being the best deal. Always thought this might happen. Cruises must not be selling very well this year as there are lots of deals around.

Yes they are offering Getaway fares now on the cruise we have booked in June (we booked Vantage Fare). But are we unhappy? No, because the cabin grade we wanted and booked is sold out so if we waited we would have saved money - about £4000 in fact - because we would have been staying at home! Doesn't suit everyonbe but Vantage worked for us and if we'd waited we would have missed out completely.

What a refreshing attitude - when so many would have moaned (and moaned and moaned again!!).... I hope you have the best cruise ever you deserve it :P

Hi Moby. I'm sure that was tongue in cheek, but if stubborn means sticking with what works for us, despite what others say, we'll take that. ;)

You pays yer money and you makes yer choice. Alternatively you pay a lot less and you have no choice.

Think that is slightly misleading Bob because how I see it the only choice you dont get is cabin choice you can still pick your dinner sitting on Getaway and granted you dont get free parking, free coach transfer or OBC but if you are getting the cruise a lot cheaper who cares about them anyway.

There are times when you can't pick your dinner time.

Last year on our getaway booked 3 months before sailing we requested 2nd sitting but we were waitlisted for freedom dining. We actually ended up on 1st sitting when we got to the cabin.

Yes, you're quite right, of course. We have had one getaway cruise and are doing another in four weeks from now and we chose dinner sitting but had no choice of cabin on either although we have been very pleased with the allocations. A useful tip is that the Travel Agent can see how many cabins are remaining in each of the available grades which can give you clues as to which way the fares are going to go.

It is the luck of the draw no doubt, however we have booked two so far ...

On the first we chose our cabin number, the sitting and the table size.

On the second we chose our cabin number, the sitting and the table size ... and then we were upgraded to A Deck mid ships.

I can live with that

I received an email from P&O today drawing my attention to all the new Getaway deals so they must be an integral part of their marketing. Or are they just panicking?
