Anyone been to Andalsnes - it is one of our ports when we go to Fjords in July - any advice on what to do there?

Hi Jenni, we went to Andalsnes last year on Oriana. It's a very small place, nothing there at all, but there is a nice walk down to the Rauma river and along by the river (about 4 miles, I think) - you can pick up a map from the tourist office which is right where the ship docks. You would probably be better to do an excursion as there's some stunning scenery nearby (as there is everywhere in Norway!).

There's a P&O trip on the train up the valley and over the Chicken Bridge then back by coach. Nice trip but in our case there were not enough seats and my daughter and granddaughter spent the train ride in tears sitting on the floor outside the toilets. Not what you expect or over £200 for a morning's outing. The town is small and pleasant but not much more than that.

We stopped at Andalsnes the year before last on Adonia. Town is quite small which we spent the afternoon wandering around. We took an excursion in the morning up the Trollstigen Mountain Road http://www.visitnorway.com/uk/Where-to- ... tain-road/ Lovely view and scenery from up there, in fact we spent a bit longer on the mountain road than we planned when the coach in front of us broke down on one of the hairpins and had to wait for a mechanic to arrive.
