Interesting read from P&O

#1

Post by Stephen »

Interesting information copied from another post :

Some clear information from P&O

We have always taken great pride in our standards of cleanliness on board. Our enhanced measures will ensure all areas of the ship are even more thoroughly and regularly cleaned, with products which have proven effectiveness against COVID-19. There will be added hand sanitiser and hand washing facilities available throughout the ship.

All P&O Cruises ships are already fitted with HEPA air filtration in appropriate areas. Ahead of our sailing restart we will be further enhancing existing filtration, further maximising fresh air circulation and also fitting ultraviolet light disinfection across all our ships. These ship-wide upgrades to on-board air systems are based on the latest indoor air quality guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

For added peace of mind, we will be initially operating with a reduced occupancy on our ships to ensure we’re able to adhere to the latest social distancing guidelines.

Social distancing will be in place in all public areas and lifts will have limited capacity, though still available to those who need to us

Mandatory wearing of face masks with no exceptions will be required at the terminal, during shore experiences and at all times when indoors on board, except when having your identity checked at the gangway or while: eating and drinking; inside your cabin; using recreational water facilities; exercising in the gym and during certain treatments or services, such as facials. Face masks do not need to be worn outdoors except when social distancing cannot be maintained.

In addition to our enhanced measures, we’re making the on-board test and trace process effortless using the new and innovative OceanOrbit TM contact monitoring solution. The device will be given to you at the terminal before you board and you simply keep it on you throughout your holiday.

With our new protocols in place, we hope it’s very unlikely that a guest or crew member becomes unwell with COVID-19 but in an abundance of caution, we‘re putting every step in place to protect the health and well-being of all on board. Like at home, we need to partake in test and trace but instead of checking in with an app at every venue, with OceanOrbit it’s done for you. The device doesn’t track your location, and is not used to store or share personal information. If needed though, we’ll be able to immediately review close contact history of a guest or crew member and prevent any further contact, leaving you free to focus on the important things during your holiday – like whether you’re more in the mood for a blissful hot stone massage, a cocktail or two at the bar or a thrilling evening at the theatre.
Eating and drinking

All of our restaurants and bars will be open and we can’t wait to dazzle you with our devilishly tempting menus. From fine dining to a light lunch, stopping for ice cream or grabbing a slice of poolside pizza – there’s a world of variety on board. You will just need to pre-book a table in the restaurants or join a virtual queue while we prepare your table. This will also apply to the buffets and deck grills which will now be served by our team. You can dine with your household or linked travelling group, up to a maximum number allowed by government guidelines at the time of sailing.

Entertainment

One of the best things about a P&O Cruises holiday is the chance to be entertained around the clock. From theatre shows to live bands, you’ll find the show will go on! All of our entertainment venues will be open throughout your holiday, and while you will need to pre-book some performances, we’ll have plenty of show times to ensure you don’t miss out. To protect the well-being of everyone on board, our performances will be adapted so that artistes and audience adhere to the latest guidance.
Activities and leisure

All of your favourites – shops, spa, salon, gym, pools, casinos, activities and children’s clubs will be operating. Fancy a soothing spa treatment or a yoga class? A wander in the boutiques or a flutter in the casino? It’s all waiting for you. We will have new measures in place to minimise contact, reduce the number of guests in each area and maintain the highest levels of cleanliness – much like we’re used to ashore. Only activities or areas of the ship that would make social distancing difficult will not be in operation.

Your
accommodation

Your cabin steward will maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of your accommodation to our enhanced standards although we would ask that you are not in your cabin at the same time as the steward. We will also be introducing an enhanced in-cabin television service providing essential updates, and an extended room service menu for you to enjoy as you relax in your cabin.

Seeing the sights

You can explore our amazing destinations, being able to relax and roam, knowing every measure has been taken to protect your health and well-being. For the time being, you will only be able to go ashore through our new range of organised and vetted shore experiences. Port transfer and shore experience operators will be subject to new policies and procedures to reflect the latest approved guidance in line with our on-board protocols.
On top of that, we’ve a whole wealth of brand new shore experiences available with options to suit every budget and every traveller. We know how much our guests love to get under the skin of each destination and so we’re introducing a new range of affordable options to make sure you have the opportunity to still experience the best of each exciting stop. Our new experiences will help you get to the heart of each port and you can be reassured knowing your well-being is protected.

Time to go home –
Test and Trace

All guests will need to adhere to UK regulations after disembarking their ship, including completion of a guest locator form to adhere to the UK government’s Test and Trace initiative. Local country initiatives may also apply at the time of sailing.
Solo travellers

Solo travellers will be able to enjoy delicious dining, world-class entertainment and adventures ashore. Guests travelling alone are welcome to join all hosted activities such as workshops, dance classes and shore experiences, participating as individuals whilst socially distanced.
Unfortunately current guidance prevents solo travellers from joining activities where social distancing is not possible such as team activities or competitions. Of course, as the world evolves, so may our policies and procedures. We will closely monitor all guidance and will adapt and evolve accordingly. We will update all guests prior to departure date on the latest details of our health protocols and what this means for your holiday.

Hi Meg, we are still booked to go in September. I just had a quick look in cruise personaliser and there is a full list of excursions - pretty much what you would expect

Much as I love cruising I'm not so sure it would be the holiday experience I would be looking for but hope those who are going have a good time.

I would hope the rules will be a bit more relaxed by July next year when we board Aurora. 🤞

they imply that there are new and different ones to allow for those of us who prefer to do their own thing, but can't - as well as allowing that everyone who wants to 'get off' has to be catered for!

Same here Stephen.
If it’s not, then there will be yet another cancellation.

I would have thought with it being in the ‘Cruise Lines’ ‘P&O’ category wouldn’t take allot of working out. The give away of course is the title at the top of the enclosed post.

Perhaps you could let me have the names and addresses of the complainants.

The good news is the lawns are all green. The bad news is when you go to mow the grass, it's raining. 😩
