Balcony cabins
Morning all
I'm after a bit of advice please.
I'm thinking of booking a 7 night fly cruise to the Med on Azura. Not done one of these before.
I have not been on the Azura before.
Will be looking to book a balcony cabin, so do any of you have any recommendations for cabins or a particular deck.
Thank you
Lindsey

Re: Balcony cabins
On Azura and Ventura we always book C deck because the balconies are quite a bit larger Lindsey.
The deluxe cabins are nicer, but we still prefer C deck.
We spend a fair bit of time on our balcony when the sun is in the right place.
We have Azura booked for January next year from the Canaries.
Love it on there.
Very good Glass House if that’s your thing.
It has a different feel to Ventura.

Re: Balcony cabins
We booked D715, a SDL cabin, on Azura and would certainly do so again. The cabins are large although the balcony is smaller than those on C Deck, they can also be overlooked from above by those with a nosey disposition but that wasn't a problem as far as we were concerned.
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Re: Balcony cabins
Yes we'd agree. D deck is pur favourite for space and facilities inside but C deck for balconies.

Re: Balcony cabins
The benefit of C deck balconies is that in addition to being twice the size of decks A and B deck, you have half the depth in shade and half in full sun, giving you the best of both.

Re: Balcony cabins
I must admit Mel although we would normally go for a D grade cabin I might give the C grade a go as and when. The balconies do look nice. The trouble is I want both which means a suite, and that ain’t happening anytime soon unless the numbers come up.

In normal times yes but a late booking may be accepted in these strange times.

Re: Balcony cabins
It would have to be very strange to be able to bag a C or D grade deluxe cabin. They soon get snapped up. But who knows these days. All one can do is check availability.

Re: Balcony cabins
I’m not against D deck balconies,in fact I actually like the ability to sit on the sofa. It’s the balcony that swings it though.

Re: Balcony cabins
C deck for me on Azura - love the big balcony - fabulous especially with the option of sun and shade. I agree with Barney about the Glasshouse - the original and best in the fleet.

Re: Balcony cabins
We all differ Jan, I find Azura's Glasshose to be just too sterile, it reminds me of a hospital cafeteria, I much prefer the outdoor Spanish tapas style of Ventura.Jan Rosser wrote: ↑18 Jan 2022, 16:44C deck for me on Azura - love the big balcony - fabulous especially with the option of sun and shade. Re: Balcony cabins
I preferred the Glasshouse on Ventura when it was a tapas bar. Funny enough booked a C deck balcony on Ventura for August this year - sharing with my granddaughter.towny44 wrote: ↑18 Jan 2022, 17:05We all differ Jan, I find Azura's Glasshose to be just too sterile, it reminds me of a hospital cafeteria, I much prefer the outdoor Spanish tapas style of Ventura.Jan Rosser wrote: ↑18 Jan 2022, 16:44C deck for me on Azura - love the big balcony - fabulous especially with the option of sun and shade. Re: Balcony cabins
Managed to get through to P and O yesterday and transferred the last of this hears cruises to next April. Booked a C deck balcony.
So a bit out of my comfort zone a family friendly bigger ship and over Easter and a fly cruise to boot.
It was the itinerary that swung it.
Split
Trieste
Rovinj
Dubrovnik.
Thanks for the info on which decks etc.

Re: Balcony cabins
A lot of sea days then.
Pray for plenty of sunshine cos Azura gets really clogged up if everybody is inside. It rained stair rods for us but having a cabin on D deck it wasn't so much of a problem

Re: Balcony cabins
In hot climes C deck for both sun and shade on Azura /Ventura, but going north or out of season during the cold months any balcony cabin will do, or D deck for the extra space during inclement weather.
Don't worry, be happy

Re: Balcony cabins
I was reading an article recently saying that paying extra for a balcony was the biggest waste of money on a cruise because people hardly ever used them.
I think we may be different in that case because we would always use ours rather than laying around on the deck if the sun is in the right place.
When we have a lazy day, we will be out on the balcony most of the day.
The thought of an inside cabin fills me with dread.
We’ve friends who always take the cheapest inside because they say that they just shower and sleep in there and spend no time in it.
I wonder if they don’t spend time in it because it’s not that pleasant to be in.
Horses for courses I suppose.

Re: Balcony cabins
We're with you Barney. We spend a lot of time enjoying our own company in our own space away from the crowds. And we're not out and about early. It's lovely to pop out on our own balcony in our dressing gowns first thing to check out the view and the day. We similarly have friends who used to be inside people to save money. These days they're suites or Regent Seven Seas!

Re: Balcony cabins
Same here barney.
We much prefer to find a quite spot on deck or sit on the balcony. We certainly wouldn't even think about laying round the pool hemmed in like sardines. No no no. Plus being on your own deck you haven't got to go too far to top up your preferred tipple
