Re: Current Affairs
I just wish that Boris would say
"To all you stupid selfish folk that think it is clever to ignore, or try to find ways around, the rules, that all you are doing is prolonging the situation for everyone, including yourself, and from tomorrow anyone found breaking the rules will get a £5,000 fine for the first offence and a six month jail sentence for the second offence."

It's easy maybe to catch the small groups say less than six, but when the law tries to close down a rave they really do come up short.

So they clobber the organiser or owner of the venue, which in fairness I think have tried to do.

Re: Current Affairs
Anyone else read the news that Margaret Ferrier has been charged with "alleged culpable and reckless conduct"
Considering what she done Taking trains, going to church and visiting shops it would have been ridiculous if she hadn't been charged with something of course doesn't mean she'll actually get any punishment she is still an MP having ignored all the complaints from the public and having the whip removed.

I heard a report yesterday that one or the main things slowing down the roll out of the jab is a shortage of glass vials.?

Coupled with the fact that every batch has to be tested before it can be used and that can take up to three weeks per batch.screwy wrote: 05 Jan 2021, 15:59I heard a report yesterday that one or the main things slowing down the roll out of the jab is a shortage of glass vials.?
But of course this is all the Government's fault

I'd get £200 off every reveller who was there as well. They knew it was wrong and should pay the consequences.Bensham33 wrote: 05 Jan 2021, 15:34So they clobber the organiser or owner of the venue, which in fairness I think have tried to do.

Re: Current Affairs
I had a short spell in hospital recently and I could not thank the doctors and nurses enough for the care they gave to me.
Seeing this from the BBC, it's not fair, it's not acceptable to NHS staff in particular but generally to the rest of us who are missing out on so many levels all because of others' stupidity and selfishness.
I don't blame Boris or the government except he didn't come down hard enough on those who flouted the regulations. He trusted the British people to do the noble thing and it doesn't work.
Two weeks ago our Covid figures for this part of the world were 46 per 100,000. They are now 398 per 100,000.

We need to come down hard on travel, no international travel unless absolutely necessary, all travellers arriving into the Uk should have to quarantine in a airport hotel for 2 weeks at their personal expense etc.

The main driver of this virus is international travel yet some muppets still think that it’s acceptable, including my younger brother who is a solicitor and normally very level headed.
He tried to convince me that their ‘necessary’ holiday was actually safer than staying in the U.K..
So, I asked, did you walk to Greece ?
A friend called about an hour ago and said to Mrs B , if you find lockdown a bit tough, call me and we’ll meet up for a chat.
What the Ffffff !

Just when you dont want to go anywhere unnecessary , I have to go to the opticians tomorrow. The titanium arm on one side of my rimless glasses just snapped today. Really annoying as I always look after my specs especially as they cost over £600. The varifocal lenses seem okay. Apparently the arm will cost £80.

But it is the government’s job to manage expectations and give realistic timescales, taking into account any known issues, like testing and putting into vials

I am surprised that the glass manufacturers, knowing these would be needed by the hundreds of millions, haven't been making and stockpiling them for the last six months or more.

There is a worldwide shortage of vials apparently. I suppose everybody is wanting them all at the same time.

One positive piece of news. The number of people who have had their first jab is more than the number who currently have the infection.

I hope the Government get their act together and start pushing out the message that those who have had the vaccine e.g. age /vulnerable, care worker staff, health workers etc, that they mustn't relax their 'personal' infection transmission safeguards just because they themselves will be less susceptible to the effects of the virus....both in the work place and within their personal lives.....complacency will be a silent killer.

Re: Current Affairs
Sue was in optics with Scrivens predecessors for over 20 years and I have heard her justify the price of glasses many times. However I have noticed a change in her tone since she retired. I am not sure of the price of titanium, but I have rimless specs and side cost me £34 two years ago. She has just reminded me that a side in titanium might be special. Proper dispensers will measure the side length to make sure of the fit on your head. Good luck with it.Whynd1 wrote: 05 Jan 2021, 18:44Just when you dont want to go anywhere unnecessary , I have to go to the opticians tomorrow.
