I just wish that Boris would say

Coupled with the fact that every batch has to be tested before it can be used and that can take up to three weeks per batch.

But of course this is all the Government's fault

I had a short spell in hospital recently and I could not thank the doctors and nurses enough for the care they gave to me.

Seeing this from the BBC, it's not fair, it's not acceptable to NHS staff in particular but generally to the rest of us who are missing out on so many levels all because of others' stupidity and selfishness.

I don't blame Boris or the government except he didn't come down hard enough on those who flouted the regulations. He trusted the British people to do the noble thing and it doesn't work.

Two weeks ago our Covid figures for this part of the world were 46 per 100,000. They are now 398 per 100,000.

We need to come down hard on travel, no international travel unless absolutely necessary, all travellers arriving into the Uk should have to quarantine in a airport hotel for 2 weeks at their personal expense etc.

The main driver of this virus is international travel yet some muppets still think that it’s acceptable, including my younger brother who is a solicitor and normally very level headed.
He tried to convince me that their ‘necessary’ holiday was actually safer than staying in the U.K..

Just when you dont want to go anywhere unnecessary , I have to go to the opticians tomorrow. The titanium arm on one side of my rimless glasses just snapped today. Really annoying as I always look after my specs especially as they cost over £600. The varifocal lenses seem okay. Apparently the arm will cost £80.
Am one a plan but the 2 year guarantee just ran out.

It’s not the government’s fault.

But it is the government’s job to manage expectations and give realistic timescales, taking into account any known issues, like testing and putting into vials

I am surprised that the glass manufacturers, knowing these would be needed by the hundreds of millions, haven't been making and stockpiling them for the last six months or more.

One positive piece of news. The number of people who have had their first jab is more than the number who currently have the infection.

I hope the Government get their act together and start pushing out the message that those who have had the vaccine e.g. age /vulnerable, care worker staff, health workers etc, that they mustn't relax their 'personal' infection transmission safeguards just because they themselves will be less susceptible to the effects of the virus....both in the work place and within their personal lives.....complacency will be a silent killer.

Sue was in optics with Scrivens predecessors for over 20 years and I have heard her justify the price of glasses many times. However I have noticed a change in her tone since she retired. I am not sure of the price of titanium, but I have rimless specs and side cost me £34 two years ago. She has just reminded me that a side in titanium might be special. Proper dispensers will measure the side length to make sure of the fit on your head. Good luck with it.
