One thing for sure is that I’m glad I’m not living in France.
They are well behind the curve.
I expect the Eu apologists will say it’s because of blah or because of blah.
It’s really because the Eu moves at the pace of a sloth.

Why are you still obsessing about the EU ? Move on.
I don’t give a flying about the EU and vaccinations. Or any other country.
I’m interested in the vaccination programme in this country.
In the midst of all the bad news something we should celebrate. We have now vaccinated more people than the rest of Europe put together. And new treatments have been discovered which increase the chances of recovery by 25%. NHS🖒
Fact check.
While Britain is doing well, a simple count is not what is important, it is the percentage of the population that is vaccinated that is important. Britain still does well on that count but does not exceed the "rest of Europe put together". https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/covi ... gion=World
It is not how you start that is important, it is how you finish.
I agree with you about new treatments an in particular the second wave of vaccines (that will hopefully be available later in the year) that attack both the N and the S proteins (current batch only attack the S protein) offering therapeutic remediation as well.
I think that we’ve made a good start on vaccinations, and all being well the amount of people being vaccinated will increase each week.
What I’m not comfortable with are Johnson’s promises. He’s overpromised and underdelivered several times before. I wish he’d just shut up and let the people doing the vaccinations get on with it, without the added pressure of patients over hyped expectations

You are right in what you say Ken. Unfortunately the link you provide only compares UK figures for 3rd January so it's difficult to see a comparison.
In the meantime I am pleased to see that we are getting on with the process although I feel Boris' mid February target is overly optimistic since there are too many variables which could put a spanner in the works. Nevertheless it is good that he is clearly pushing to get the vaccine delivered as soon as possible and we get as many people vaccinated as we possibly can.
With the pressure for rollout this is pathetic. https://uk.yahoo.com/news/pfizer-vaccin ... 30574.html
I am happy for such requests to be granted but if someone turns down a slot then they should automatically be moved to the very bottom of the queue before being considered again.
Absolutely 100% agree. They should thank their lucky stars they have been offered one.

I thought that you intended to get behind Britain and give it your full backing now we have left the EU, or did I totally misunderstand you Ken?

That link is (supposed to be) updated regularly and hopefully it will be to the vaccination drive what Johns Hopkins is to COVID reporting
My only issue was with the metric that implied success purely on a count of people. Next week it is likely that the EU will overtake us in the count of people vaccinated - that does not mean it is doing any better (or worse) than us. Comparison by count is irrelevant, it is the % that is important.

I agree - especially since the my projected date is mid June (although I suspect it will be much earlier). I hope Johnson and our health professionals can keep the momentum going - maybe even learn a few lessons from the Israeli response.

I think given a choice, which I doubt will happen, that I would opt for the Pfizer vaccine over the AZ vaccine as the reported % protection rate is higher - but hey I will take whatever I am offered as some protection is better than nine.

I was reading a report yesterday when someone in Belgium was complaining that we were going too fast with the rollout and that the vaccine had not been fully tested - this is the same vaccine that Belgium is using - and Belgium have not got a particularly good record on dealing with Covid so I suspect there is some "sour grapes" in there somewhere.

Does getting behind Britain mean totally ignoring factual information that doesn’t suit a narrative?
In any event, I didn’t see anything in Ken’s post that wasn’t supportive of the U.K.
