Same up here on the Costa del Cumbria. No queues, plenty of fuel.
Went for Click and Collect when the panic was on but in order to access it I had to cut through the queue for fuel. I indicated and clearly they thought I was hoping to push my way in front of them. I got some very angry looks until I indicated I simply needed to cut through the queue to get my shopping.
Another 1100 made it over the Channel during the last few days. If you add in the intake from pulling out of Afghanistan in the past month plus others coming in on other routes the total is mounting up for the year.
We are an island, where are we supposed to house this lot, we can not even keep up for our own people plus they all need feeding, and I should imagine we give them spending money as well.

I agree Ray, but unfortunately we don’t get a say in it, at least not until the ballet box time comes round, and even then there are never any guarantees.
Another tit bit from the Guardian on the subject of Diesel V Woodburners.
Burning just one kilogramme of wood under optimal conditions, will pollute one million cubic metres of completely clean air up to the World Health Organization’s [new] guideline level.
New approved woodburning stoves apparently emit 750 times more tiny particle pollution than a modern HGV truck, a report has shown.
So the move to woodburning is pushing up the price of wood and polluting the air as well.

My energy company claims to supply electricity from 100% renewables. So obviously they won't be putting up the price. Will they.......?
An interesting point Merv, we are just being moved to Ocropus which claims the same, unfortunately it seems that all energy prices are based on an average. I wonder if it will begin to change as we start to see renewable take the majority share, somehow I doubt it.
We are on a fixed gas tariff of 34p for the first year and 38p capped tariff for the second year but living in the rural outback I’m wondering if they will still deliver knowing there will be bigger profits to be made elsewhere…yes, it’s a wait and see scenario but like Stephen, we’ll be making more use of our wood burner while there is such uncertainty.

Not a peep, nor a cheep, about the super cheap Energy supplier who's gone bust ... why not ?
Which one Moby, ours was Avro and after several warnings, and with deteriorating customer service that made P&O look top class, and very low cost fixed offers, it did not come as any surprise. Unfortunately by the time our switch from EDF was finalised, all the other good offers had vanished.

Not really Ray, the energy market seems to be set by the wholesale gas price to determine the tariffs offered. I dont know the various rates for nuclear, or other renewables, which may even be higher, but I guess these are taken into account when determining the tariffs offered.

I thought exactly the same when I heard that on the news
In fairness Uk Haulage fought against Cabotage back in the Eighties and lost, I was guilty then as I worked for a European Haulage firm out of Düsseldorf,I worked 10 days on 4 off.Bring a load over here,pick up loads and drop around the Uk then a return load to Europe etc.
Again though it’s another short term measure which will undercut and lose more Uk drivers.
The RHA don't want any solution other than a return to uncontrolled immigration to enable them to employ cheap labour rather than recruit, train and pay British drivers properly.
How the hell has Ismail Abedi been able to leave the country when he was required to give evidence at the Manchester Bombing inquiry? Were we stupid enough not to take away his passport or were Border Force asleep?
I'm no lawyer but maybe they were not allowed to take his passport away unless they had a specific reason. I would have thought it was a necessity considering the situation.
