It might only be a switch (and an IT meltdown) for them but I think it would be a bigger issue for passengers. The percentage of Brits on P&O is far higher than on Cunard. On our Cunard Round Britain last year there were an awful lot of fly cruising Yanks.david63 wrote: 05 Jun 2024, 15:46Changing the onboard currency to USD would only be a matter of flipping a switch (Oh silly me that would involve P&Os IT)
Cunard operate in USD and don't appear to have any problems with UK passengers not accepting it - although I do concede that the transition would not go down well with hoards of passengers vowing to never cruise with P&O again - that is until their next cruise!
So USD on board means thinking about currency conversion, either changing cash or less than best rates on credit card exchanges. And more confusion for those not used to juggling currencies.
Much less of an issue for Cunard who have established US clientele and far less than half as many UK based beds to fill.
Just a personal view - we currently use P&O for family holidays though it's no longer our first choice as a couple. We wouldn't use Carnival. A completely different vibe.
